      #8 is correct. Vlad is also correct, but the option shown is the only option that could be considered correct in this case.

      My reasoning is because the router will not load the IOS on ROM without the administrator (running-config) telling it to do so.

      Someone correct me if I am wrong, or let me know if you came to the same conclusion. No doubt that Cisco has some serious issues wording their exam questions though.

        from chapter 1: “If a full IOS image can not be located, a scaled-down version of the IOS is copied from ROM into RAM. ” so the correct answer is “when the full ios cannot be found”

    Answer to the question 9 is wrong. Choice 3 would be the correct answer. In the choice 4, S 172.16.1.0 has shown directly connected whice is not true. this is connected via 172.16.2.1 which is the next hop ip address from R2 to the network 172.16.1.0/24

      Wrong bro, it was defined through an interface and not through an IP Address. What you say is true, thing is when you configure the static route through an interface, “show ip route” does show the address as “directly connected”, though S (for static) remains.

        The answer shown (option 4) is CORRECT.

        It is not directly connected, but s/0/0/0 is. As far as the router knows, 172.16.1.0 is directly connected to s0/0/0 because the admin did not use a next hop IP.

        The third answer is NOT correct because the router has no idea that 172.16.2.1 is where packets need to be sent until AFTER the recursive lookup is done. When using an exit interface argument, a recursive lookup MUST be done, so there is no way that 172.16.2.1 would even show up in the routing table due to this.

      If no loopback interfaces are configured with IP addresses, the router will choses the physical interface with the highest IP address. The interface from which the Router ID is taken does not have to be running OSPF. The Cisco OSPF will continue to use a Router ID learned from a physical interface even if the interface subsequently fails or is deleted.

      Hicham is right, option #4 does not mention ACTIVE interface. If the interface is not up/up, the IP address will not be considered for a Router ID. The interface does not have to be participating in OSPF, but it must be active.

            in this configuration hold-down would prevent IF there was no split horizon.

            i’ll go with split-horizon as the answer since its kind of in both.

    Shouldn’t the answer be: “The highest IP address among the active interfaces will be used.”

    The priority for assignment of router ID is:

    1. via the router-id command
    2. The highest IP address of a loopback interface (if more than one loopback has been configured)
    3. the highest physical active interface IP address

    It also says the physical interface does not have to be advertised by OSPF.

      Because the process ID’s don’t need to match for OSPF to form an adjacency. The process is only relevant to the individual router and nothing else. You might be thinking of “Area ID’s” being different, then that would most definitely cause problems. From the configs shown in #46 the hello/dead timers do not match so the routers will not form an adjacency at all.

    The answer to no 15 is – Route Poisoning
    Split horizon prevents loops so it is a rule. That guides all routes do not advertise the same network you received an update.

    However from the diagram the root is down. The mechanism that will prevent IMHO is route poisoning.
    Hold down timers prevent the count to infinite.
    The question could have been written better !

    I am going to take what I said back on Number 15
    The answer is Split Horizon when enabled -guides all routes not to advertise on the same network you received an update. So it is meant to prevent false advertisement
    Poison Reverse is a metric algo to infinite so makes the route metric 16.
    Holdtime prevents the count to infinite.
    Again the question IMHO could have been written better but the closest answer to the cisco definition is Split Horizon
